JR Farms Zambia, FAO Zambia Discuss Partnership to Engage Youth in Cassava Value Chain

As part of efforts to intensify her efforts to create more opportunities for young people in the agriculture value chain while raising the next generation of agrarian leaders, JR Farms has initiated a partnership discussion with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (Zambia Country Office) on youth engagement in the cassava value chain in Zambia.

Consolidating on the already established outgrower scheme with a record of over 350 hectares of land spread across Zambia, JR Farms has expressed interest in working with FAO Zambia in developing a youth-anchored cassava outgrower scheme designed to empower youth while producing raw materials for JR Farms’ industrial use.

JR Farms made this expression when being hosted to a meeting at the FAO Zambia Country Office in Lusaka; both parties discussed the key areas of interest for JR Farms and FAO in Zambia, where they both expressed strong interest in working together.

JR Farms will be leveraging the network of FAO youth farmers across Zambia to develop a youth-based outgrower scheme to secure our raw materials for factory use, providing inputs and off-take agreements. It will impact the lives of youth in Zambia by creating a decent living source for them while consolidating our already existing outgrower scheme.
